New SAP HANA microservices in the Cloud (Yaas)

Along with SAP HANA 2, SAP introduced new SAP HANA microservices in SAP Hybris as Service Platform :
- Text Analysis Entity Extraction, Text Analysis Fact Extraction and Text Analysis Linguistic Analysis: Use text data processing features in the cloud for application
enhancement with natural language processing.

- Earth Observation Analysis service(beta): Co-innovated with European Space Agency (ESA) and based on the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) EO-WCS standard, this microservice accesses satellite data from ESA and uses SAP HANA, spatial edition, to perform spatial processing in the cloud. The new service, announced today in conjunction with Munich RE, delivers historic information about vegetation, water, soil and other spectral indexes in real time.
The Earth Observation Analysis service is available free of charge in the beta phase from the SAP Hybris as a Service platform Nov. 8 through Dec. 31, 2016.

Options to Adopt SAP HANA 2

From go.sap.com

There are two options to adopt SAP HANA 2 one to choose and upgrade support package stack(SPS)12, which offers upgrade-free environment to be maintained until May 2019. You can then decide at any time to upgrade your applications from SAP HANA 1.0 SPS12 to SAP HANA 2 to take advantages of new functionalities.
-Run applications in a constant environment without the disruption of support package stack (SPS) upgrades
-Obtain maintenance revisions (but no new SPSs) until May 2019
-Upgrade to SAP HANA 2.0 at any time

Or to implement SAP HANA 2.0 SPS00 once it is available.
- Bring new ideas to life with technology enhancements delivered via support package stacks (SPS)
- Get technology enhancements twice-a-year; for example, SPS01 and SPS02
- Upgrade required after two SPSs are released to remain compliant with maintenance support (Example: SPS00 is supported until SPS02 is released)

SAP HANA 2 is planned to be released customers on Nov 30, 2016.
This platform optimized for business innovation and delivers technology enhancements twice a year to support agile IT.

In SAP TechEd Barcelona Barcelona, SAP unveil SAP HANA 2 platform, the latest in-memory technology in SAP.

How to use SAP HANA Studio connect to server?

First you have to install SAP Client and SAP HANA Studio in your laptop, and get the IP address of your SAP HANA server with you.

Performs steps below:

1. Set up hostname and ipaddress in host file. 

Kindly refer to this in getting your host file location.

2. Launch SAP HANA Studio. 

Open administration console perspective.

3. Right click and click add system

4. Key in the hostname you have setup in hostfile

5. Login using user name SYSTEM and manager as password 

6. Once you hit Finish, you should able to see your connection to SAP HANA server with green light status as below.

Setup AWS Amazon account & Create Key Pair

First access to http://aws.amazon.com/ and signup for Amazon AWS account.

You will need to generate a key pair for data encrption (protection & security) purposes.

I would encourage you to use AMAZON EC2 to generate the key pair for you, simple and easiest way.
1. Open https://console.aws.amazon.com/ec2/v2/home?region=us-west-2
2. Click on "Key Pairs" hyperlink and "Create Key Pair" in the next page.

3. Enter a for your key pairs, and a <<key_pair_name>>.pem file will be downloaded automatically after you have created the key pair.

You will need download SAP HANA Client, for you to access to SAP HANA server through ODBC / ODBO / JDBC, also SAP HANA Studio as IDE for you to perform HANA development .
